Grover Norquist calls Sen. Schumer a Nazi

I think Schumer can probably find the legislation to do this [a bill to force  tax-dodgers to pay a 30 percent tax rate on all future U.S. investments and ban them from ever setting foot in the country again]. It existed in Germany in the 1930s and Rhodesia in the ’70s and in South Africa as well,” Norquist said, as quoted by The Hill. “He probably just plagiarized it and translated it from the original German.

I hope he is aware that Schumer is Jewish. Either if he does or doesn’t know, he’s still the biggest idiot ever to influence the Republican Party.

I never knew that you could be expelled from BJ for doing anything “inappropriate” even off-campus. Their fascist way of living astounds me.

Paul Ryan quotes about Ayn Rand

“The reason I got involved in public service, by and large, if I had to credit one thinker, one person, it would be Ayn Rand.”

My mother, who is otherwise a liberal, is actually reading Atlas Shrugged and enjoying it. I hope she doesn’t fall victim like my dad. Why would anyone live in a world where they listen to Neal Boortz and watch FBN all day? I’d rather roast in Hell.

Amazon Fail: 4% of Prime Instant Video options are Power Ranger episodes

Amazon has confirmed that the figure of 17,000 movies and TV shows cited for its Prime Instant Video service refers to individual streaming items, not titles. This means that TV shows have their individual episodes weighted as heavily as single movies, of which there are only 1,745 — Fast Company calculates that the 715 available Power Rangers episodes account for 4.2 percent of the service’s entire library.

They could add One Piece or any soap opera and the number of “titles” would boost at least twice!

Defending the Buffet rule

Meanwhile, it’s $47 billion more in loophole-closing than either Ryan or Romney have offered.

The article has lots of good quotes.

I keep hearing the president say that he’s responsible for keeping America from going into a Great Depression,” Romney told a crowd at a town hall meeting in Maryland Wednesday. “No, no no. That was President George W. Bush and Hank Paulson that stepped in and kept that from happening.

The Walking Dead: 5 Things The Show Can Learn From The Comic | HuffPost TV

I couldn’t agree more with this list. The show is, surprisingly, too soft; then again the comics regularly approach the R/X rating barrier with violence and ethics. The survivors ought to be progressing into sometimes savage survivors by the end of this season.

Razer Blade gaming laptop review: It's bling

I’ve been waiting to hear about this and nothing new is surprising from what we learned from hands-on demos: it has a luxury price tag for performance that laptops well less than half of the price can deliver. A list of headaches and overlooks:

  • No SD slot or microphone port (expecting to play online?)
  • Weak hinge (lol quality)
  • Particularly bad speakers (same)
  • Bad performance (and I mean 30 FPS with Skyrim on medium settings bad)
  • No hardware configurations (worse than Apple!)

I’ll give Razer credit on a few points. The trackpad is surprisingly cool (but I would never play the majority of games with my fingers) and it has a matte display, so those could be put to good use on a general use laptop. But they dropped the ball huge on compromising performance and portability - do you really want to play games with upscaled Xbox 360 graphics for just 3 hours? I don’t know how much producing a Blade costs, but I think the price is going to drop a ton in the future.

I’ve been on the gaming laptop road, and in my opinion, they were dark days. If your budget is under $2000 than the most you can ask for is playing MMOs and Starcraft at school. If, like me, you play a variety of games on your computer and want power over mobility, there is no substitute for a custom built desktop. I built mine last year for a measly $600 and I am never looking back.

Ind. Sen proposes myth teaching in science classes

The anti-separation-of-church-and-state creationists have a new tactic to allow religion to be taught in science classes: religious comparison.

Although the bill as written could be used to create a comparative religion class, its sponsor, Senator Dennis Kruse, has made it clear that he hopes to see it foster the teaching of creationism in science classes. Theoriginal text of the bill explicitly mentioned creation science; it has since been modified to mention a variety of religions, including Scientology. In a brief interview, Kruse expressed disdain for evolution, calling it a “Johnny-come-lately” theory.

As with many sponsors of bills of this sort, Kruse is apparently unaware of what evolution describes (hint: it’s not the origin of life) and of the scientific meaning of the word “theory,” which is not broad enough to encompass religious teachings.

I wouldn’t want Scientology to be taught about even in a social science discussion, unless it’s explicity about new religious movements or Tom Cruise. A cult is a religion with fewer followers, mentions modern technology, and is inherently fundamentalist. I wish every politician sat down and learned about the scientific method. Maybe then they will understand why science classes do not mention the religious method.
